(Chicago) RMX Gallery, located at 1933 N Damen Ave in the Chicago neighbourhood of Bucktown, is pleased to announce the upcoming exhibition “Soggiorno” a Retrospective featuring the art of Sasha Kinens.

Sasha Kinens is a figurative painter who has been painting professionally for over 20 years. She studied intensely in an Atelier from a descendant of the L’ecole des Beaux Arts before attending Hillsdale College where she worked closely with prominent artists Richard Serrin, Tony Frudakis, and Sam Knecht. Her work has been featured in several regional publications as well as American Artist Magazine, in addition to receiving the Award of Excellence, Manhattan Arts International.

“We are really excited to have Sasha exhibit at RMX Gallery with pieces that will provide a journey through all the periods of her career,” said Mikus Kins, RMX Gallery Director.  “This will be Sasha’s 37th exhibition and her 8th solo exhibition.  More importantly, it is the first time she will be exhibiting her art in Chicago since 2002”

The exhibition is titled “Soggiorno” which literally translated means “a stay”, like a short visit.  The name resonated with Sasha given that this grouping of works contains a bit of each painting “period” or theme from her years of exhibiting throughout the United States and Florence, Italy.

As Sasha explains,” My paintings are narratives, at turns allegorical and visceral, ethereal and lingering. I invite the viewer to commune with the subject placed in an alternate space and reflect on their life and the life in the painting.  Informed by classical realism, inspired by the Naturalists and Symbolists of the nineteenth century, I weave my twenty- first century outlook into the fabric of my work.”

Opening night reception is on Friday October 23rd from 6 to 9pm and the exhibition will run through December 1st.   RMX Gallery is located at 1933 N Damen Ave, Chicago, IL 60647.
